'XXXII Trobada de Barques de Vella LLatina'
in Catalan means the Meeting of Lateen Sailing Boats in English.
For many years I had looked forward to attending this annual event in beautiful Cadaques, Costa Brava. The serene event in August 2019 did not disappoint. No racing, just an ideal gathering of French & Spanish Catalan lateeners in a perfect breeze.
Vela al Terzo racing in the Venice Lagoon 2016
Most people think of gondolas and motor boats when they think of marine activity on the canals of Venice. Much less known are the fleet of traditional sailing boats that still race and cruise the sublime Venice Lagoon.

Another unusual race.
The annual River Yare Navigation Race for traditional Norfolk Broads boats is a pursuit race with a difference. Competitors race against the clock starting when they choose and completing the approximately 30 mile course as quickly as possible. The shortest time wins.
Fortunately for this fleet in 2012 the wind did increase during the day.
